What we collect when you use duabanti.com, why, how long we keep it, and how to have it deleted.

Who we are

This website is run by DUABANTI FOUNDATION LBG (“DuabaNti”, “we”), a nonprofit company limited by guarantee registered in Ghana (Charity ID CG077101125), of Kwabenya Close, Mawuli, Kwabenya Road, Accra, Greater Accra, Ghana. We are responsible for the personal data described here, and we handle it in line with Ghana's Data Protection Act, 2012 (Act 843). For anything in this policy, email info@duabanti.com.

Analytics (Google Analytics 4)

We use Google Analytics 4 to understand how people find and use this site, so we can tell which pages and adverts actually help learners reach us. It sets cookies in your browser and records:

  • the pages you visit, how you arrived (for example a search or an advert) and roughly how long you stay;
  • your approximate location (city or region, not your exact position), device, browser and screen size;
  • specific actions: clicking a link to our Discord, clicking an email link, opening the donation page, and completing one of our forms.

Google Analytics does not give us your name, email address or phone number, and we never send it the contents of the forms you fill in. Google processes this data on our behalf; see how Google uses information from sites that use its services. You can block these cookies in your browser settings, or install Google's opt-out add-on, and the site will work just the same.

What our forms collect, and why

We only ask for what we need to do the thing you asked for:

  • Cohort registration and waitlist — your name, email, age group, what you do now, your city or town, how much coding you have done, the areas of tech that interest you, and why you want to join; and optionally your phone number, school or workplace, what you want to build, and what you are hoping to get. We use these to confirm your place or tell you when dates are set, send reminders before live classes, plan the cohort around who is in it, and follow up if you fall behind. “How you heard about us” tells us which outreach works. Your age group is how we know when a learner is under 18.
  • Volunteering and mentoring — your name, email, current role, the area you could help with and how much time you have, and optionally your phone and LinkedIn. We use these to match you to learners.
  • Partnership enquiries — your name, email, organisation and what you have in mind, so we can reply.
  • Newsletter — your email address, to send you occasional updates on programmes, targets and results. Every newsletter has a way to unsubscribe, or just email us.
  • Contact form — this opens your own email app; we receive only what you choose to send.
  • Donations — your payment is handled by Paystack through Sellub. We see your name, email and the amount so we can send a receipt and thank you; we never see or store your card or Mobile Money details.

Who we share it with

Nobody. We do not sell, rent or share your personal data with anyone for their own use, and we do not use it for advertising.

A small number of service providers process it on our behalf and only to run the service: Google (website analytics), Paystack and Sellub (taking donations), and the automation and email tools that store form submissions and send our emails. If you join our Discord community, what you post there is governed by Discord's own privacy policy. We would disclose data to authorities only where Ghanaian law requires it.

How long we keep it

  • Cohort registrations and volunteer details: for two years after the end of the last programme you took part in, then deleted.
  • Partnership enquiries: for two years after our last contact with you.
  • Newsletter: until you unsubscribe.
  • Donation records: for as long as Ghanaian tax and accounting law requires us to keep financial records.
  • Google Analytics data: up to 14 months, after which Google deletes it automatically.

Your rights, and how to have your data deleted

You can ask us at any time to show you the personal data we hold about you, correct it, stop using it, or delete it. Email info@duabanti.com from the address you registered with and tell us what you would like. We will confirm within 30 days. Deleting your registration does not stop you joining a future programme. If you are not satisfied with our response, you can complain to Ghana's Data Protection Commission.

Learners under 18

Some of our learners are senior high school students. If you are under 18, please let a parent or guardian know before you register. A parent or guardian can ask us to see or delete their child's data using the same email address above.

Changes to this policy

If we change how we use personal data, we will update this page and the date below. Significant changes will also be announced to registered learners by email.
